CSV import¶
Rows can be loaded into a table from a CSV file, and a new table can be created from a CSV. Both run as plans and appear in Jobs.
Import rows into a table¶
- Open View data for an active table and choose Import CSV.
- Select the file. Columns whose names match are paired automatically.
- Map the rest:
| Control | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Column selector | Point a file column at a table column |
| -- Skip -- | Leave a file column out |
| Default value | Fill a required column that the file does not provide |
- Check Preview (first 5 rows).
- Choose Import data and follow the plan in Jobs.
When the plan completes, the rows appear in the grid with the default value where it applies and the skipped column empty.
Files that cannot be used¶
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| Empty file or headers only | No rows are inserted |
Malformed file, or a spreadsheet renamed to .csv |
Rejected at upload with a clear message; no plan is created |
| Text in a numeric column | Mapping warns, or the plan reports the rejected rows and the reason |
A failed row never leaves the table half-loaded: the plan reports what was rejected instead of inserting partial data silently.
Create a table from a CSV¶
- Open Case Tables → Tables → Import and upload a CSV.
- Review the proposed schema. The first column named
IDbecomes an integer primary key with auto-increment; text and numbers are inferred from the values. - Choose the domain and confirm.
- The table is created in Draft state and an import plan is queued. When the plan completes, the table becomes Active with the rows from the file. A file with headers only creates an empty table.
Review inferred types before you rely on them, then adjust them in Table schema.
Bulk actions on rows¶
In View data, selecting rows with the checkboxes enables Choose action…:
- Export downloads a CSV with only the selected rows.
- Delete asks for confirmation with the number of rows and removes only those rows.
