Process categories

Admin → Settings → Process categories groups processes so they can be filtered and so each category can have its own case list in Home.

The list

The table takes the full width and includes a Processes column with the number of processes assigned to each category. The first row is special: Uncategorized counts the processes with no category.

Create or edit

Field Rule
Name Required; unique, up to 100 characters. Path and reserved characters are rejected, including /, $, :, <, >, %, #, !, \, @, {}, ;, |, *, ?, ", and backtick
  1. Choose + New: the dialog is titled New category.
  2. Type the name and save; there is no extra confirmation step on create or edit.
  3. The list reports success and shows the new row.

A duplicate name is reported on the field itself, which is faster to fix than a general warning at the top of the dialog.

Assign processes

  1. Select a category; the toolbar offers Edit, Processes, and Delete.
  2. Processes opens a dialog titled with the category name, with Available and In this category columns and the count in each title.
  3. Each process shows its current category as a badge, or Uncategorized.
  4. Move processes to the right to add them; moving one from another category takes it out of that category.
  5. Save is disabled until something changes.

Closing the dialog with pending changes asks Discard changes? — answering no keeps them.

Delete

  • Deleting asks for confirmation.
  • A category with processes cannot be deleted: the message states how many processes it holds and offers only Close.

The Uncategorized row

It is fixed and cannot be edited or deleted; selecting it offers only Processes. Moving a process out of a category returns it here, which is also how you empty a category before deleting it.

Where categories appear

Users see them in Home as category entries; selecting one opens a case list filtered to that category. See Categories.

Permissions

This page requires both PM_SETUP and the process-category permission (PM_SETUP_PROCESS_CATEGORIES) of your role. See Permission reference.
