Case scheduler¶
The Case Scheduler runs case actions on a timetable: at a fixed moment or on a recurring basis, without a person pressing anything.
Create a schedule¶
- Open the process in the Process Designer.
- Open Case scheduler.
- Create a schedule.
- Choose the action and the timing.
- Enable the schedule.
- Save.
A schedule is stored with the process, so it travels with the process when it is exported and imported.
Review and change a schedule¶
Use the same page to review existing schedules, change their timing, or disable them.
- Disabling stops future runs. It does not undo work already done, and cases already created or advanced stay as they are.
- Changing the timing affects future runs only; a run in progress finishes.
- Deleting a schedule removes it from the process definition; export the process first if you may want the configuration back.
Two different schedulers¶
| Case Scheduler | Timers in the diagram | |
|---|---|---|
| Where | This page, per process | Start and intermediate timer events |
| Runs | Case actions | Starts a case, or makes it wait |
| Shape | A list of schedules | Part of the flow |
If you need a case to start on a schedule, that is a start timer. If you need an action on an existing case, it is this page.
What to check after enabling¶
- The action runs once, at the expected time — not twice because two schedules overlap.
- The case it affects is what you expected; a schedule that targets the wrong state does nothing visible.
- The activity appears in the case history, which is how you confirm it actually ran.
Permissions¶
Editing schedules requires design permission for the process. See Permission reference.
