Variables¶
Variables hold the data a process works with. They are created from the process objects panel in the canvas and are used by forms, conditions, triggers, and messages.
Create a variable¶
- Open Process objects → Variables.
- Choose + New.
- Type a name and a label, and choose the variable type.
- Optionally attach a SQL query, define accepted values, or set a default.
- Save.
Variable types¶
The type list does not include File; it does include Multiple file, which is the type used to attach several files.
Where a variable is read¶
The stored value does not change. Each part of the process decides how to read it:
| Consumer | How it reads the value |
|---|---|
| Conditions | With the prefix written in the expression: @@ text, @% whole number, @# decimal |
| Triggers | With the prefix in the PHP code; @= keeps the original type |
| Forms | Through the control bound to the variable, without converting it |
See Conditions for the full list of prefixes and what each one does.
SQL query¶
- The SQL field resizes when you drag its corner.
- Each variable keeps its own query: opening a second variable does not show the first variable's SQL.
Accepted values¶
In Define accepted values the buttons Add, Save, and Cancel sit on one row. Adding, editing, and cancelling a value work as expected.
The variable list¶
- The list fills the available height.
- Selecting the Variable or Type header sorts by that column.
- The Prefix column shows the whole value instead of cutting it.
