Dynaform editor

The dynaform editor builds the forms that users fill in during a case. Open it from Process objects → Dynaforms, or with Edit on a dynaform step in Task properties.

Create a form

  1. Dynaforms → + New → Blank dynaform.
  2. Type a Title and a Description. Both stop at their character limit and show Character limit reached; there is no n / max counter.
  3. Save and open. The editor takes the whole screen.

Editor layout

Area Behaviour
Palette Opens with two columns; resizes to one or three columns as you drag its edge
Canvas The form you are building
Properties panel Closed by default, with a vertical tab on the right edge
Toolbar Save is the only solid button; Close is outlined

There is no Mobile tab; device preview is handled by the preview modes below.

Dragging the palette narrower than its minimum collapses it into a Controls tab, and selecting that tab reopens it. The control on the toolbar opens Properties floating over the canvas and stays highlighted while the panel is open; × closes it and the vertical tab returns.

Build a form

  1. Drag a text field, a dropdown, a date, a grid with two columns, and a submit button onto the canvas.
  2. Select each control and check the labels in Properties. Labels use sentence case, for example Default value.
  3. Bind each control to a variable.
  4. The date control opens a calendar and its bin icon clears the value.
  5. A control that is no longer supported is marked with an amber warning, not a red error.
  6. Save, close, and reopen: controls, order, and variable bindings are intact.

Preview

Preview shows the form as the user will see it, with no designer chrome behind it — no figure dock, no side chip.

  • Switch between Desktop, Tablet, and Phone; the form adapts.
  • A long title never slides under the preview buttons.
  • Labels are semibold, fields have a border, and focus uses the primary colour.
  • The submit button is solid.
  • Closing the preview returns to the editor with your changes intact.

Advanced editors

Editor What to check
JavaScript Opens wide enough to write code; Ctrl+Space shows autocomplete
Languages Search filters the list, the clear button empties it, the upload field is fully visible
Database connection Search filters the connection list when you pick one for a control

Translating a form

Each form keeps its own translations. Open Languages in the editor and upload a .po file with the translated labels: the form shows them when the interface language matches.

A form only has the translations someone uploaded for it — the language of the interface does not translate the labels by itself. A workspace with ten forms and three languages needs one file per form.

Export and import

  • Export downloads the form file.
  • Import into a blank dynaform does not raise The id is invalid errors, and reports Form imported successfully.
  • The success message goes away on its own.
  • After saving and reopening, every imported control is still there.
