Domains

A domain groups related case tables and gives them a name prefix. The prefix is part of every physical table name, so tables from different areas never collide.

Create a domain

  1. Open Designer → Case Tables → Domains.
  2. Choose Create domain.
  3. Enter a name, an optional display name, and a description.
  4. Check the prefix. It is generated from the name and you can adjust it before saving.
  5. Create the domain.

Prefix rules

Rule Detail
Format UPPER_SNAKE_CASE: uppercase letters, digits, and underscores
Length Up to 10 characters
Uniqueness No two domains share a prefix
Use Prepended to the table name: PREFIX_TABLE_NAME

The prefix is what makes cross-domain imports safe: a table copied into another domain is recreated under that domain's prefix instead of overwriting the original.

The domain list

The list shows the domain name, prefix, description, number of tables, and creation date. Use the search and column controls to find one.

From a domain you can:

  • View tables — open the table list filtered to the domain;
  • Edit — change the name, display name, description, or prefix;
  • Delete — remove the domain (rules below);
  • View ER diagram — see its tables and relationships, see ER diagram;
  • Bulk publish — publish the pending changes of several tables at once.

The sidebar groups tables by domain, so the same structure is available while you navigate.

Delete a domain

Situation What happens
The domain has no tables It is deleted
It has only draft tables The drafts are deleted together with the domain
It has published tables Deletion is blocked; the message says how many tables it holds

Deletion asks for confirmation and cannot be undone. If you may need the data, export the tables first.

Bulk publish

Publishing a whole domain is not the same as publishing each table: the review first classifies every selected table, then builds one plan for the ones you include.

  1. Select the tables in the domain and choose Review & Publish.
  2. The review lists each table with its status icon, operations count, severity, and estimated time:
Category Meaning Checkbox
Ready No blocking issue, severity up to medium Checked
Needs approval Severity ≥ 41, rows deleted, or an estimate over 10 minutes Checked, can be cleared
Blocked Drops a column or table, an ambiguous rename, or a status other than draft/pending Unchecked and disabled
  1. The footer totals what the plan will contain — included, blocked, needing approval, and the estimated total time.
  2. Execute plan creates a single job plan for the checked tables; the blocked ones stay as they are.

The plan is executed from Jobs, where it can be approved, scheduled, or cancelled.
